Finescrollsaw

040 - Bangalore clock

This is a very beautiful yet quite simple clock in Indian style. This style was very popular in England at the turn of the XX century due to the influence of the eastern colonies. The overlay pieces in the central section of the clock are particularly well balanced and give the clock a discrete and elegant appeal.

The clock is very easy to make. Only the pieces in the corner may present some hazard. These corner pieces are the last ones to be mounted in the clock and should adjust with no problem. The pattern has been completely redrawn after an old English design, using the most advanced graphic techniques, to ensure that all pieces fit accurately and give the scroller a pleasurable experience.

The clock is designed to be made preferably with 1/8, 1/4 and 3/8 inches wood or with 3, 6 and 9 mm wood. The main size is 1/4 inches wood or 6 mm wood. The following table gives the dimensions of the clock depending on the wood thickness you use:

Height Width Depth
1/8, 1/4, 3/8 in. wood 16,5 in. 8,5 in. 6,7 in.
3, 6 and 9 mm wood 39.7 cm 20.5 cm 16.1 cm

Picture by Boris Radovskiy from the USA, showing remarkable craftsmanship. He has used walnut and cherry wood and has finished the piece with 3 coats of satin polyurethane.
