025 - The Blois goblet

This is a very decorative six sided goblet. I have restored a very old French pattern to obtain this. I have changed the mounting method to make it remarkably simple: the sides of the goblet encase with precision in the floor slots in the precise angle they need, then they are glued and all the slots are covered with a piece of wood. This goblet can be made in any desired size scaling the pattern and using the corresponding wood thickness. This table gives some examples of measures of the goblet:

Goblet height Goblet diameter
1/4 in. wood 10,2 in. 12,7 in.
6 mm wood 24.6 cm 30.4 cm
1/8 in. wood 5,1 in. 6,3 in.
3 mm wood 12.3 cm 15.2 cm
8 mm wood 32.8 cm 40.5 cm

Please note that this pattern is registered and copyrighted. If you would like to have it I offer it for 9 € plus shipping. The pattern is computer made, which provides total precision, and nicely printed for convenient scrolling. Please write me to [email protected] to buy this pattern or for any questions.

These pictures and the one above are courtesy of David Griffin from Ohio, USA. His remarkably beautiful goblet is made with canary wood and bloodwood.
This picture is courtesy of Ester Arditi from Israel, "It was a pleasure to make this and it looks wonderful". This picture has kindly been sent by Entico Cococcia from Italy. This goblet is made with olive tree hardwood, which is very complicated to work because of his hardness and because it breaks easily. It is however a very beautiful wood of deep texture and subtle colors. This picture has kindly been sent by Wolfgang Roth from Germany.
