193 - Czar's mirror

This is scroll saw mirror so magnificent that I could only call it the czar's mirror. The striking visual effect is obtained by the use of overlying pieces on the main mirror frame. The mirror is richly ornamented with grotesques, caryatids and many floral motives. The main piece is divided in four sections so that they can be cut more easily. The mirror needs reinforcement in the rear once completed. The pattern is based on an old Italian design from the beginning of the XX century. It has been completely redrawn in the computer using the most advanced graphics techniques.

The pattern is printed to make the mirror with 1/4 and 1/8 inches wood or with 6 and 3 mm wood, but of course it can be resized at will. This table gives the dimensions of the mirror depending on the wood thickness you use:

Height Width Depth
1/4 and 1/8 in. wood 32.6 in. 23 in. 2 in.
6 and 3 mm wood 78 cm 55 cm 4.8 cm

Note however that the mirror contains only a very limited amount of tabs and slots, all of them in the little shelf of the upper part. Since these pieces are very easy to modify, and in fact you can simply remove the tabs and slots and glue these pieces into position directly, you can use any wood thickness you prefer, both for the main mirror frame and for the overlays.

Please note that this pattern is registered and copyrighted. If you would like to have it I offer it for 19 € plus shipping. The pattern is computer made, which provides total precision, and nicely printed for convenient scrolling. Please write me to [email protected] to buy this pattern or for any questions.
