239 - Rickshaw

scroll saw model of a 1906 car

This is a very charming scroll saw model of a Chinese rickshaw. It is an old Italian design entirely reconstructed in the computer. The original pattern has been improved in several ways. For instance some volume has been added to the figures of the two people, and the ornamentation of the rickshaw has been changed for a better one that looks more Chinese.

The pattern has been designed to use 3/16 inches wood. By scaling the pattern appropriately any other wood thickness can also be used. These are the dimensions of the rickshaw depending on the wood thickness you use:

Length Height Width
1/8 inches wood 14.2 inches 11 inches 5 inches
3/16 inches wood 21.3 inches 16.4 inches 7.6 inches
1/4 inches wood 28.4 inches 21.9 inches 10.1 inches
3 mm wood 34.3 cm 26.4 cm 12.2 cm
4 mm wood 45.7 cm 35.2 cm 15.3 cm
5 mm wood 57 cm 44 cm 20.3 cm
6 mm wood 68.5 cm 52.8 cm 24.4 cm
